Motivation and Background

WIDE and CNRS has launched collaboration of mobility and measurement  topics.  This project is supported by French and Japanese government  and will continue for two years. We exchange researcher, research  information, technical results between two countries.

Overview

Mobilily

The goal of mobility project is re-architecturing the Internet using  the renowned expertise in IPv6 and Mobility and Next Generation  Internet in our scientific communities. This new vision of the  Internet would based on the assumption that most or all communicating  devices would be communicating though a wireless medium and where all  its composing parts (protocols, intermediate devices and etc.) would  be reengineered so that they fit well in. Work on the project would  be done in joint efforts of our two countries and would lead to a  proof of concept demonstration upon.See Mobility as detail.

Measurement

There have been considerable advances in Internet measurement and modeling in the last decade.  However, it turned out to be extremely difficult to understand the constantly changing behavior of the global Internet.

Among other things, understanding the behavior of emerging applications such gaming, peer-to-peer applications and networked appliances is critical to predicting the future Internet.  Another important area is to effectively detect new types of security threats since attack techniques are rapidly evolving.

Although emerging applications and threats are considerably different in nature, there exit common factors in terms of measurement and modeling.  In order to understand seemingly intractable behavior of emerging applications and threats, it is essential to combine practical skills and knowledge with solid theoretical methodologies. See Measurement as detail.
